A sewing blog about building a functional, cohesive handmade wardrobe, one garment at a time.

About

Welcome! I'm so happy you're here.

I am a homeschooling mom of four spirited kids - two little girls and two littler boys.  I began knitting while single, and dreamed of sewing my own clothes, but thought it was too hard.  Then, while pregnant with my oldest daughter, I sewed a set of 12 cloth wipes.  That was in 2009 and I haven't looked back.

These days, I wear a mostly-handmade wardrobe.  I sew pretty much everything I wear except socks, underwear, swimwear and (until recently) outerwear.  In 2019 I sewed my first jacket - another thing I never thought I would have been able to do.  Sewing really is a super-power.

I started out sewing on a 20-year-old hand-me-down Kenmore.  When it died, I bought a Janome Magnolia 7325. I also have a Brother 1034D serger and a Brother 2340CV coverstitch machine.  Every few years, we pack up these machines and everything else we own to move to another country for my husband's job.  Currently my sewing studio is set up high in the Andes, in Bogota, Colombia.  I've sewn previously in Russia, Georgia (the country) and Virginia.

spend my days homeschooling my kids and working part-time. In my spare time, you'll find me in my sewing room, thinking about sewing, or blogging about sewing.

Thanks for poking around, and I hope you'll come back to have a read now and again!
